Record each contact with another company as a CRM Thread
Identify products and services that relate to the other company
Record other information relating to this CRM Thread
Use the powerful Index to find relevant CRM Threads
Set up and change details of companies and contacts
Define different types of company and their status
Define products and services you need or offer, and group them by type

Each topic of discussion between you and another company is recorded as a Thread
It relates to both another Company and one of your Projects, and has a current status
Each discussion you have can be added to the Event History and is stamped with date and person's name
You may also enter company address, email etc, which is shown each time the company is assigned, ...
... and assign specific actions to your staff, attach electronic documents, show next due call, etc

Doing, or intending to do business with a company will relate to a Product or Service...
...that you wish to buy from or sell to them. These can be selected here, from a list set up by a senior manager

Each time you spend any time working on a CRM Thread, you may book time to it here ...
... rather than using the Timesheet facility, if the project records time by CRM Thread

Each time the Status of a Thread is changed, it is logged to form an audit trail

Users can optionally document why pursuing this Thread is important
These can include benefits to your company, technical issues or conflicts that might arise
These factors can be used by management to decide if the work should go ahead

Related information may be stored on documents outside Silver-Owl.
These may be referenced, and if they are in electronic format they may be attached and opened here

All CRM Threads are included in an Index which can be filtered by Project, Company, etc
The Index shows key data and can be sorted on any column

All CRM activity must relate to a Project and a Company
The names of other Companies should be entered here, and individual Contacts may be added

You may optionally keep a record of people you deal with at other companies
If you nominate a primary contact, the name and phone number will be shown on the CRM Thread

Companies are grouped together into Types, e.g. Customer, Supplier, etc
You may have as many Types as you like
For each Type you must specify a number of statuses that might apply to it, for example ...
... 'Made contact', 'Held meeting', 'Negotiating deal', 'Doing business', 'Ceased trading'
You may signify that one or more of these reflect that the Thread is now closed.

Various pieces of information are common to all Threads and their presence may be validated
Additionally, you can define some supplementary fields which may be different for each Customer Type

Senior Managers may also specify any Products and Services that you offer or require
Each should be given a unit value in pounds and identified as income or expenditure

Products and Services must be grouped together by Type
The Type may be any description you wish, or could be as simple as 'Income' and 'Expenditure'
